Yep, you got it. It's HOT here, butnothing stops the fun here is NOLA. This August is no exception. Things start off with The Satchmo Summer Fest on August 5th-8th.

On Saturday August 7th is White Linen Night. This is a really fun event. It takes place on Julia Street. So put on your white linen outfit and stroll along the street and browse the art galleries, snack on great food and of coarse have a cocktail.

As always there is a counter event to White Linen Night and that would be Dirty Linen Night on August 14. this event takes place in the French Quarter on Royal Street.

My favorite is the Red Dress Run. This takes place on August 14th. There will be thousands of men and women in their RED dresses and a lot of drinking going on. So come join all the fun here in New Orleans this month. Oh, and dont' forget your white linen or red dress!

Temps may be hot during the day but things cool off at night. As always there is a lot going on this month. July 1-4 is the Seafood Festival, July 3-4 Essence Music Festival, July 4 Go 4th on the River, July 10 Running of the Bulls and July 21-25 Tales of the Cocktail.

There are great deals in the city during the summer months Here at the 1896 O'Malley house we drop our rates to $135.00 per night until October 1.

Fun things to do during the summer are taking a swamp tour, visiting the plantations and taking a river boat tour.

Things are slowing down here in New Orleans, now that the busy season is coming to an end. This month there are two very fun festivals: The Louisiana Cajun Zydeco Fest and the French Market Tomato Festival. Both take place June 12-13th. If you planned to visit the beach this year and can't due to the oil spill. Come visit us here in New Orleans. The fun never stops here in the BIG Easy!

2010 Jazz Festival was a major success this year. It was wonderful to see old friends again. Don’t be fooled there is still a lot going on this month.
On May 7 we have the Zoo to Do in Audubon Zoo. The same weekend is the Strawberry Jam ‘n Toast in Pontchatoula.

At the end of the month is the incredible New Orleans Wine & Food Experience that takes place May 25-29. This is truly one you don’t want to miss!

May 28-30 is the Greek Festival, with food and live music. We always have a good time at this one.

April is here and jammed packed with fun. This month there is so much going on in ole NOLA. We start out with the Crescent City Classic. on the 9th-11th is French Quarter Festival. Also that weekend is the Ponchatoula Strawberry festival. On the 10th and 11th is the Spring Garden Show in City Park. The Old Algiers Riverfest is the following weekend 17th-18th, followed by the Zurich Classic PGA Tour. No, Tiger Woods will not be there.

We end with the Big Daddy of them all, the first weekend of THE JAZZ & HERITAGE FESTIVAL ! April 23rd – 25th.

It is springtime in New Orleans. Wow things here at the O’Malley House have been very busy. I think it is safe to say we are back to per Katrina tourist numbers. This has been our busiest month since opening 11 years ago.
As always there are tons of things going on in the city from garden tours to food festivals.
We don’t have many rooms left this month but there are still some. Good thing Porter is around to help me out!

It’s Here! No, not Mardi Gras. That happens every year. The SUPER BOWL! Ok I know Mardi Gras is a big deal but nothing like our beloved Saints going to the big game. Our Saints are so much more than just a football team to us here. They represent the come back spirit of the city we all love some much. For those of you that have been here, you know New Orleans is much more then a place to live. It is a celebration of life. Boy are we celebrating now.

So get in a car or on a plane and come be a part of it. Oh yes, we will be having a blast at Mardi Gras too!

Fireworks over the Mississippi River ring in 2010 for New Orleans. It is always a good time to visit New Orleans, but if you would like to see it all at a slower pace, this is your month! The big crowds for the holidays have left and the Mardi Gras crowd is counting the days to their trip. The Mardi Gras season starts with Twelfth Night on January 6th. There will be several parades this month such as; The Joan Of Arc Parade on the 6th, Punny Phorty Phellows streetcar parade also on the 6th, Krewe Du Vieux on the 30th and the Krewe of Little Rascals on the 31st. This is a great way to get a taste of Mardi Gras without all the crowd.
Krewe Du Vieux is one of my favorite parades of all; it takes place in the French Quarter and is a walking parade, it is a must see.

This is my favorite time of year in the Big Easy. Christmas in New Orleans is magical; in fact HGTV voted New Orleans the number one city to visit during the Christmas season.

Big news at the 1896 O’Malley House! I have a new little brother. His name is Porter, he is 7 weeks old. At first I did not really like him that much, but now we are best friends. Since the weather is so great in New Orleans this time of year we have been spending a lot of time outside. There is nothing like a nice walk along Bayou St. John , City Park or in the French Quarter along the Mississippi River this time of year. Here are some things going on this month in NOLA.

What was once a memorial to an epic WWII battle has now transformed into the nationally recognized museum for all things WWII. This month starts out with a great Labor Day weekend. As always New Orleans can’t just have a picnic. Southern Decadence is in town. Southern Decadence is a huge street party that kicks off on Friday Sept. 2nd and last for 4 days.

September the 11th- 13th is the First Annual New Orleans Burlesque Festival, it is a three-night celebration of world-class burlesque entertainment, including classic striptease, live jazz music, comedy, cabaret, song, and variety acts.The nightly showcases recall the New Orleans of the Forties and Fifties, when New Orleans was known as "The Most Interesting City in America." Bourbon Street was its epicenter, and it became world famous for its concentration of nightclub shows, and the New Orleans Burlesque Festival brings back all of the excitement and glamour of the period.

September 25th-27th is the New Orleans Seafood Festival; it will take place on Fulton Street in downtown New Orleans. All proceeds for this event will benefit the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation. The festival will feature cuisine from many famed, local restaurants. Those that are scheduled to attend include Barreca’s Restaurant, Mr B’s, Drago’s Seafood Restaurant, Arnaud’s, Galatoire’s Restaurant, Ernest Café, Carnival Brands (Pigeon Catering), Mr. Mudbug/King Creole, Pontchartrain Point Café, ACME Oyster House, Café Giovanni, Carondelet Café, Grand Isle and many more.

For those of you that have never been to City Park it is a must see. I have been hanging out there a lot this summer. They have just finished renovations to Big Lake by NOMA. It is a great please to take a walk, relax and watch the swans or take a picnic, which is what I did

August in New Orleans for me means two things. It is hot and time for vacation. I am headed up to my cabin for the second week in Aug with my Grandparents and my dad is going to Belize…Of course the O’Malley House is not closing while we are gone, Ron the manager will be running things.

Each weekend here in the Big Easy there will be several small festivals happening all around the city with music, food and art.. Over the past few weeks we have visited the Cajun Pride Swamp tours where we had a great time and just yesterday we enjoyed visiting Oak Alley and Laura Plantations. These are some great things to do when you visit New Orleans.

Something different you may be interested in trying is a guided chartered fishing trip. Captain Craig offers trip on his 25’ Bay Boat. All you have to do is show up and he has food, drinks and all the equipment you will need for a great day out on the water. If fishing is not your deal check out a charter sailboat for a sunset cruise on Lake Pontchartrain.

Just because things have heated up does not mean New Orleans has slowed down. Come visit us and give Ron some company while I am gone…..

July is HOT, not only in temp but things to do. The 1896 O’Malley House is very busy this July. There is so much going on in town we are booked up 3 of the 5 weekends already, but we still have some room left for you.

July starts out with the 4th and fireworks on the river! Also the 15th Annual “Essence Music Festival”. This is one of the city largest music festivals. This years line up features: Beyonce’, Anita Baker, Lionel Richie and much more. Last year there where over 270,000 visitors in town for this amazing event.

On the 8th-12th of July will be “Tales of the Cocktail”. This internationally acclaimed festival of cocktails, cuisine and culture is a great way to experience the wonderful food and libations available through out the city. There will be mixologists, authors and chefs celebrating the artistry of making drinks.

The month ends with the “Satchmo Summer Fest” the music of Louis Armstrong on 3 stages in the old mint. What a great way to end July. May is the time to eat!

Jazz Fest has come and gone and boy was it great this year. The numbers are in and there where over 400,000 in attendance this year. It was the biggest Fest since the hurricane.

Even with Jazz Fest past us there are lots of things coming up this month. One of my favorites is the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience. This is a great festival starting on May 19-23. This is its 18th year. Check it out at http://www.nowfe.com/

Also here in Mid-City is the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo held on Bayou St. John. This festival is now in its 4th year and has grow to be a great great attarction!. With local band, food and crafts. The fest runs from May 22nd to the 23rd. To check out more information go to: www.thebayouboogaloo.com

Thing are great here at the O’Malley House. As you all know this is the month for music in NOLA. April 17th –19th is the annual French Quarter Festival. If you have never been this is one of the best weekends in the city. French Quarter Fest is a FREE music festival featuring true New Orleans Jazz. The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival kicks off the last weekend in April and this years line up is amazing. March really came in like a lion this year. The weather this time of year in New Orleans is some of the best during the year. With temps in the 70’s & 80’s low humidity this is the time for a NOLA visit.

I just got home from a visit with my grandparents in Mississippi where I had a great time. My dad was snow skiing and we have both made it back home in one peace. We are now ready to enjoy all the fun things happening this month in New Orleans.

As many of you know we are now in festival season! There are so many great things going on this month like: St. Patrick’s and St. Joseph’s day parades March 12th-19th, Independence Sicilian Heritage Festival March 13th-15th with amazing food, Earth Fest March 21st, The Tennessee Williams Festival March 27th- 28th with novelist from around the world in town doing book signings and lectures, Spring Fiesta and Home Tour March 27th with many historic homes open to the public and last but not least the Patois New Orleans Human Rights Film Festival, March 26th – April 5th. There will be screenings of several independent films all over the city and one of the directors will be staying here with me at the O’Malley House.

Things are heating up so come on down for a visit. We still have some rooms open. Get one while you still came. Oh and bring me some treats, just don’t let my dad know.

Fun in February!

I can’t believe Carnival Season is already here! Larry and I are at the lake house until the end of this week and then when we get back, Mardi Gras is in full swing! The O’Malley House is already decorated in purple, green and gold; the three colors signify justice, faith and power, respectively. Houses all over the city are adorned in these three colors and people are busy sewing up last minute changes on their parade costumes. Endymion is one of the biggest parades in the carnival season and it rolls right in front of the B&B on February 21st.

Mardi Gras day is February 24th and it’s pretty much one big celebration until then. It is always the day before Lent, and it means “Fat Tuesday” in French. It’s the last time you are supposed to indulge in your sins before you give up your partying ways for 40 days.

If parades and parties aren’t your cup of tea, Valentine’s day is almost here and what better place to celebrate a holiday of love than in one of America’s most romantic cities? If you haven’t had a chance to see it, check out the film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and you can see how our beautiful city can be a beautiful backdrop to any romantic occasion.

Coming in March, Larry, Beck and I will be working on some new recipes for our summer breakfast offerings and we look forward to welcoming friends, old and new, to the O’Malley House. See you soon!

2009 is going to be a wonderful year in New Orleans

2009 is going to be a great year! We will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the O’Malley House shifting from a residence to a Bed and Breakfast. Larry and I have been here since 2004 - and what an amazing five years it has been!

The Mardi Gras season just started on January 6, on Twelfth Night. Deeply rooted in Catholic traditions, Twelfth Night is the official start of the Carnival season. What’s even better is that this means the King Cakes start popping up everywhere. For those of you who do not know the tradition, if you get the baby in your slice of cake, you have to buy the next day’s king cake.

We also just had the BCS/Sugar Bowl games last weekend and throngs of football fans descended upon the city. Utah defeated Alabama and the Uties were celebrating all over!

If you are making plans to visit the city during festival season, make your reservations soon, rooms throughout the city are selling out fast. Keep in mind Mardi Gras day is February 24, Crescent City Classic is on April 11, Jazz Fest is April 24-26 and April 30-May 3, and there are hundreds of things to celebrate in between!

Holidays are a time for fun, family and festivities! New Orleans lights up with the spirit of the holidays…and food…this month! Christmas in the Oaks at City Park is a must see for any visitor to our B&B because it’s just a mile away. The park is adorned with lights and holiday cheer and audio samplings of “A Cajun Night Before Christmas” can be heard throughout the idyllic setting.

Saint Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter offers many free concerts for the season and it’s the perfect place to stroll through on a winter’s night. There’s even Christmas carolers in Jackson Square to make the scenery even brighter.

Many of the local restaurants also participate in what’s called a Reveillon Menu. Join Antoine’s, Arnaud’s, Emeril’s Delmonico, NOLA, Galatoire’s and more as they participate in sampling menus of Creole favorites and holiday fare.

HGTV just named New Orleans one of their “Top 10 Christmas Towns” for the 2009 season so there has never been a better time to visit!

October was a busy month for us here at the B& B with Voodoo Fest and Halloween bringing in all sorts of guests for me to meet and spend time with. The city is finally starting to cool down and has even gotten a little chilly at times. It’s a nice change though for a furry guy like me who’s had to endure one hot summer! I’m kind of tired from all that Halloween partying that took place at the end of the month, but Larry has promised to take me to the lake house on the 16th for a week and I’m looking forward to it, even though it’s gotten too cold for me to swim. November is looking to be a good month and I’m excited to meet all of our guests who will be visiting us for Thanksgiving. I’m also looking forward to the Louisiana Renaissance Festival that is happening every weekend this month. I’m also thinking about checking out the New Orleans Rhythm and Blues Festival on November 9th because I’ll probably be looking for something to do before I head up to the lake on the 15th. But who am I kidding? This is New Orleans! There’s always something fun going on! I’m sure I wont have to look too hard. There’s still plenty of room at the B&B this month so please come and visit me!

September was a great month for me and the bed & breakfast. I celebrated my eighth birthday on September 28th and Larry took me to the puppy spa as a birthday gift. I got many cards from our past visitors and I can’t wait to see you all soon. The end of September was very busy for us, we had guests from England, The Netherlands, Portland and Wisconsin. We even had a guest stay with us for nearly a month while he worked in the city. Right now, we have a guest named Jim O’Malley who might be a distant relative of the O’Malley House’s builder.

In the city of New Orleans, October is a month for partying. VooDoo Music Fest is at the end of the month as well as the city’s many festive Halloween parties. We still have plenty of rooms available so please join us for the fabulous fall weather in New Orleans.

Larry and I are going to the lake house in the middle of the month and we will surely take tons of pictures and post them on our new Facebook page. If you haven’t already, add me as a friend and I will see you soon!

With Hurricane Gustav finally come and gone, the city of New Orleans has power fully restored to most areas and only minimal wind damage. Residents returned to the city starting last Wednesday and estimates say that nearly 95% of everyone is back home. The Canal Streetcar is back up and running and people are coming and going to the quarter. This storm shows us that the city of New Orleans is prepared to handle major hurricanes that blow into town!

We have two exciting announcements for the month of September. First, the O’Malley House would like to welcome our new Manager Jason Simpson. Jason comes to us most recently from Harrah’s Casino’s marketing department and is a native of New Jersey. Jason is pursuing his Master’s degree in English at the University of New Orleans and when he isn’t busy learning the ropes of the O’Malley House, you will find him with his nose in a book or attached to his laptop. Jason has lived in New Orleans for nearly 5 years; he has also lived in Japan, Miami and spent many summers as a child on the coast of South Carolina.

Second, the end of the month is a time for celebration as Cody celebrates his eighth birthday on September 28th. He is asking for the same thing as last year…more toys and stuffed animals.
Fall is fast approaching and it’s the loveliest time of year in New Orleans, from the Bywater Art Market to Voodoo Fest and from Saints Games to guided tours, the weather is great and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Well, looks like Ole New Orleans' luck held up with Gustav. Cody and I where able to get through the road blocks and back into the city around noon today. The O'Malley House had no damage and is now open. We have several people from the area staying the night that are without electricity. The city looks good. There seems to be only minor damage with some limbs down. The city should be in full swing by this weekend. Thank you all for the wonderful emails.

1896 O'Malley House Receives 2008 Best of New Orleans Award

"1896 O'Malley House has been selected for the 2008 Best of New Orleans Award in the Bed & Breakfast category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA)."

The press release goes on to say blah, blah, blah. Bottom line; for just under $100.00, they will send me a plaque with B&B name, award title and ready to hang!

I guess it should be an honor to be selected to pay for and support, an award from a marketing and advertising organization.

Am I missing something here?

For the last couple of three years The 1896 O'Malley House has been rated number ONE on Tripadvisor. Tripadvisor even sent us a glass trophy when we were voted one of the top 10 B&B's in the USA! AND I didn't have to pay for it! What a concept!

Wedding bells are in the air! Charlie & Virgina's son, Jonathan is getting married tonight. You may have met the happy parents around the breakfast table. They are our neighbors in the next block that frequent the breakfast table and share stories and history of New Orleans. Charlie, being a local, has a few to share along with his STRONG opinion! Best wishes to the Newlywed's and THANKS for staying at the O'Malley House and using the house as a backdrop for some of you wedding pictures!

Another guest, I think I've spoke about, from NJ, sent me a thank you gift. Not to say this is a first, but they are usually sent to Cody, but it couldn't of been better!

The last night they were here, they got the other guest to play cards with them. Picture this, the dinning room table cleared for a card game and fun snacks! We were playing for M&M's, so you know it was serious. Someone gets thirsty and I stir up some Cosmopolitan's, in a measuring cup. It's true, we don't have everything! As good as they were, the presentation was lacking for the O'Malley House standards. So thanks to NJ guest, The Desmond Martini Pitcher arrived! (pictured above)

The O'Malley House is gearing up for the wedding of one of our wonderful neighbors, the Blanque's. The house will be filled with excitement, family and friends!

What a busy week! Guests of ol' and new! We even had a new neighbor staying with us, waiting on her furniture to arrive from up north! Welcome to Mid-City! TRACY!

Our newest best friends are from NJ! Can you believe that? They'd even like to shovel snow better than the heat! Something isn't right with that! Natalie celebrated her birthday and we had cake, candles and all the hoop-la! that goes along with it. She and her husband, Anthony, drove down here and are headed to Houston before driving back. Better them then me! They do claim to have lots of head room in their car! I wont even go into Natalie's eating habits, or the lack of!

Thanks to Aloysia, part of her group is coming for training! The O'Malley House loves our regular guests and neighbor's too!

I'm headed to see the parents for the week, so you have Larry and Cody as your hosts. We're playing tag-team; they are headed to the cabin next Sunday, and I'll be returning to welcome all our guests!

We did have a great visit from Larry's parents and grandmother! They hadn't visited in awhile so it was good to see them.

It's always fun to be a tourist in your own city, so if you're a local and need to get out of the house for a day or two, give us a call and come stay! Aida, from FL way, is the new best friend! She and some of her family added another wonderful dimension to the B&B. As much as she wanted a spirit experience, it didn't happen, but maybe next time?! Nick, her son, apparently has an imitation of Larry down better than Larry can do himself!

Essence's Festival was wonderful and looking forward to next years event! Make your reservations now! It's never to early!

Larry's parents and grandmother are headed this way on Wednesday! It'll be great to have them back to the B&B. It's been a long, long time.

Nora, who all the recipes are named after, will be arriving on Thursday!

It's upon us, again! and the fourth of July festivities are here in New Orleans!
Along with Essence Festival, a party along the Mississippi River will start at noon on
Friday, ending with a wonderful fireworks show, assuming the rains stay away.

The house is rock'n! Guests from FL, TX and up north somewhere are here to celebrate!

Is Everyone Having A Wonderful Summer?

All is well at the O'Malley House! We've had small groups, so the house hasn't been full, but it's been exciting.

My cousin Sheri, from Dallas, and her friend Nancy, from Nashville, were here for 5 days!
The first night Nancy claims to be awakened by a shaking bed, she thinks it was a female spirit, during the night. She stayed in room 3.
I asked her to get a name!
Then the next night, Sheri, who was staying in room 8, shared the same experience. Sheri even got out of the bed to try and shake the bed like it had been shaking and she said she couldn't do it! No more sightings after that, until the last night they stayed. Sheri asked for a name but the spirit looked at her and went away! You never know what might happen around here!

We were also blessed by the girls from Birmingham, Joy & Bebe, from Austin, Melinda, and Allen, TX, Denise! What a time we had! Laughing, more laughter and a little sleep was had by all! They were so good to welcome the other guests in their activities! Yes, we're one big family at the O'Malley House!

We're gearing up for the July 4th week/end! We have repeat guests coming in to do more volunteer work, anniversaries and experiencing Essence Festival! If you don't have reservations, I'll try to assist, but the O'Malley House is booked!

New Orleans is also advertising a big Fourth of July fireworks show at the river! It's going to be something you don't want to miss.

Cody and Larry arrived safely! Larry's mother is doing better and all is right with the world.

Needless to say, another interesting weekend. Brett, who's on his third visit to the O'Malley House, not only showed up for breakfast, but was the first one, at 9 o'clock am! Of course he hasn't shared breakfast with us again, but I guess the third time is a charm!

Brandon and his wife, Kimberly, were here celebrating their anniversary, the trip was a surprise to Brandon, and it included a fishing trip. Eccentriccharters.net was who they ended up with and had a wonderful time. Caught lots and I have a freezer full of Drum and Red Snapper!
THANKS for sharing and now I have to work the fish into a breakfast! Any ideas?!

Nate is returning today! He's been gone for awhile. Living in Idaho and now a new father, it's been tough getting him back to the O'Malley House for his business trips. Looking forward to catching up and seeing pictures of the baby!

The air conditioners are still working! So stop by when you're near and stay when you can!

Larry and Cody are supposed to return on Saturday! The cabin is back in shape with a new oven! Thanks to the last renters. Anyway, all is well and seems to be doing fine at Cody's Cabin.

Great guest here from the North-East! You should be here too!

We still have plenty of room for the month of June and end of July, so come on down, over, whatever!

Cousin Sheri is coming for a visit in the next week or so and she is always full of stories!
She can give Larry a run for his money.

The next day the girls I travel with once a year are coming in. We've know each other from grade school on, so needless to say, there are some stories being told! Come join the fun! Between Melinda, Denise, Bebe and Joy the fun and laughter will be more than anyone can handle.

I think I mentioned my new recipe with spinach and Swiss cheese? One of my new favorites! Or the Swiss cheese grits pie? Well, those are all good, wonderful and fabulous! BUT! I've found one even better than those! Stephanie, you'll want this recipe and Rod, it'll be worth the drive just to enjoy it at the O'Malley House. It's a CRANBERRY & CAJUN SAUSAGE QUICHE!UNBELIEVABLE! It's so good!

Summer is in full swing, I guess, whatever that means! But the heat and humidity are here in New Orleans and I'm afraid they are here to stay for awhile.
Thank goodness for air conditioning!
I can't imagine life without.

Larry and I must be playing tag-team. I returned yesterday from a wonderful trip to see the folks and playing golf and now he and Cody have headed back to the cabin.
Apparently there was a small kitchen fire at the cabin. Not good, but better than it could have been. Anyway, it's just me this next week. So if you're bored and/or need to get away, come visit. They should be returning toward the end of next week.

We have rooms available for the next couple of months, except for Essence Festival Weekend, which is the first weekend of July. So visit before and/or after! We'd love to have you.

Still proud of the Hornets, but haven't been watching much of the games.
I know you don't want me to start talking about NASCAR, but, I'm going to have to have something to talk about. Gotta get my driver, Carl Edwards, on the right track. Between tires and gas, there are a few kinks to work out.

I guess there's always recipes. I found a good one the other day and the guest seemed to enjoy it.
I have to come up with something new when Rod and Stephanie show up, so they keep me on my toes. Yes, you missed out if you weren't here, but needless to say, a good time was had by all!

The O'Malley House was in full swing, again, this past weekend with Tulane graduation. All parties walked the stage and we're so proud! Now you can come and just visit!

Rod & Stephanie are headed here this weekend. If you haven't been here with them, it's a real treat! I think I have a room or two still open! We're looking forward to their return, it's been to long! Yes, we'll be on the porch just a swinging!

The O'Malley House have NEW amenities! Yes, as I've said before, nothing is to good for our friends and guest! They are ESA, Environmentally Sensitive Amenities. Bottom-line, we've got oatmeal soap, almond lotion, aloe gel, honeysuckle shampoo......you'll want to eat and drink instead of clean with them! But don't nibble to much cause breakfast will be waiting!
This past week was our first week to introduce the product and it's a real hit! Surprise! Surprise!

We had a great graduation weekend last weekend, and looking forward to another successful one this weekend! Congratulations to all Graduates, parents and families!

Larry's mother is having surgery today and will be in the hospital for the next 5-7 days.

Wasn't that exciting and a good game?! Of course it would of been better if the Hornets could of put the finishing touch in the third & fourth quarter! But the advertisers and arena's are feeling a little better. And the Hornet Fan's want to experience the fourth win at Home!

The heat and humidity has arrived. Not a welcoming sign for the visitors to New Orleans, but most places have A/C! So come and enjoy!

Larry and Cody will not be back until sometime next week. So Larry will not be holding court on the front porch in the swing, you'll have to wait until next weekend!
Larry's mother is having surgery on Monday, our thoughts and prayers are with her and the rest of the family.

On a brighter side, the Ft. Worth Star Telegram ran and article on my father and it's pretty good. Dad tells about the good 'ol days playing football at Cleveland and Dallas.

What a great weekend for Jazz Fest! Old and new guest and the rain was all around!

Talked about Maxwell, from Austin, who loves JF and the rain, but couldn't make it this year! Know that you were talked about and stories were shared! Hope to see you all next year!

The FL group and Dallas! As always, good to see you and spend time together. I can't believe it's already been a year! Can't wait until next year. And if you're missing out, the swing is still swinging and Larry is still telling stories!

How about those Hornets?! I know my mother and sister aren't to happy, but it's great to win! In Dallas. Apparently the last time a Hornets team won in Dallas, I was living in Key West, FL!

On a sad note, one of my cousins died this past week. Steven was 22 and a wonderful blessing to us all. His mother, Jana, is an example of unconditional love and a living angle. The sky's are brighter with Steven shining down from the heavens.

Look out Mavericks, here we come! How exciting but the true test will be on Friday, the Hornets haven't won in the AA Center! 0-13! But there's a new day dawning and on any given Sunday....

The house has been hoping! Unfortunately I'm having a problem remembering names. It's Adam, not Andy, sorry about that! But we're still having fun, late nights on the swing and new guest becoming repeats very soon.

Enjoyed the stay of David's mother and step dad from the west. She's a new grandmother and the proud father is one of the top guns at Juan's Flying Burrito, just around the corner! We love when our neighbor's house their family and guest here at the B&B, we are one big happy family!

I did make it to Duke Morgans for a Spa treatment. He's been open about a year and is located on Magazine. If your interested, on your next trip, we'll be happy to set something up! It's wonderful! And we all deserve some special treatments!

I know your tired of hearing this, but we still have ONE room open THIS weekend for JAZZ FEST! Who can believe? But it's true. If you have time, it's not to late! There is a three night minimum!

Between the Honeymooner’s, New Guest, Returning Guest and the FQF, not only was New Orleans the place to be, but the O’Malley House as well!

Donna and Jim have come and gone! Great laughs and a good ‘fix’ for us all.

Frank brought over a Creole Cheesecake! They are unbelievably good! He’s working on a shipping method and a final price, but whatever the price, it’ll be worth it. Keep checking back and I’ll let you know when and how you can order!

If you’ve been so kind to ask and take some of my recipes home, that I prepare here at the house, just know that I’ve changed all the names and have added Nora to them.
It makes for a good story, but not right now. I guess that when I put the O’Malley Cookbook together, I’ll have to call it:

Donna helped, or I assisted, on an experimental breakfast one time. Needless to say, that particular menu didn’t make the cut, but we had fun and could of sold tickets to watch us in the kitchen! Then there’s the Holiday Ham she roped me into buying at our local grocery. She found the local recipe and made me do it! Of course she was 1500 miles away when I was preparing it, but thanks to maw-bell, it was the next best thing to being there.

Larry & Deb Experience 1896 O’Malley House for the FIRST time

Along with many other newcomers, Joyce and Bill to name a few, The 1896 O’Malley House is a new destination for them. Also our new friends from Dublin, who enjoyed our home away from home. They all say New Orleans isn’t bad either!

What a busy time, making new friends and new guest. Lots of new faces and family’s who are presently going to or soon to be going to Tulane! Our first crop of Tulane students are graduating so it’s time to fill up their spaces. We are easily accessible, not only to the University, but centrally located in the City!

Zapp’s Potato Chip is one of the items we offer to our guest for a local/regional snack.
Larry, from MI, like many others, has tasted and fallen in love with the variety of flavors offered. Needless to say, once returning home, he was fast on the computer to order his supply to be shipped home. New Orleans is like that, once you’ve experienced it, you can’t get enough!

French Quarter Fest is this next weekend, if you have some time, come experience! It’s wonderful. We do have ONE room left!

That’s correct, 4 years ago, March 31, we moved in and took over!
My how time flies when you’re having fun!
A special thanks to all our guest who have made this possible and our
friends who’ve also assisted us!

Busy week being back, between weddings, birthdays and anniversary’s we’ve
had a house full! And new potential students going to Tulane, needless to say,
the house has been buzzing!

Speaking of buzzing, how about those Hornets?! Big game tonight. I was fortunate to experience the victory over the Celtics last week. The games are an experience! If you haven’t been, you need to go!

The volunteer’s keep on coming! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Time for summer planning and I know it’s hot and humid here, but we have air-conditioning and the restaurants are still open. So if you’re passing by, stay a night or two, we’d love to have you.

Brad's Back!

What a nice get-a-way! Dad was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame! Needless to say, we’re proud, but it’s great to be back!

If you haven’t been here over the last couple of weeks, you missed experiencing Larry and Frank’s hospitality!
Frank’s not scheduled to be back until July/Aug. Frank is still baking-up his cheesecakes! Yum, yum!

Have been enjoying the stays of our military persons that have been staying here before they go back over-seas! Our prayers are with you and best wishes for a safe and speedy return! See you on the porch swing when you all return! That’s a promise!

Our ghost seekers didn’t get any pictures, after 3 rolls of film, maybe next time?!

And another SPECIAL thanks to the volunteer’s who still keep coming down to help rebuild the City and surrounding area. Thanks for staying with us and giving your time and money to this area! Keep on coming!

If you haven’t booked for the French Quarter Fest, you’re to late. We’re booked, almost, one room left! But the weekend after, April 18-20, is open. This is the weekend after French Quarter Fest and before Jazz Fest. It’s a great time to be here and enjoy the city with less people! Come on down!

EMF Meter Goes RED!!!!!!!

One of our GostHunter guest stayed this past week and was excited to report that the spirits are alive and well on the third floor. She didn't get any reading on the second floor, then went to the third floor and the meeter when crazy. She also took 3 rolls of pictures, excited about what might appear. When she came back down to the second floor, the meeter still went crazy. They followed her downstairs. So not only are we here to welcome you on your first or fiftieth visit, the good spirits are too!
Don't forget to spring-forward your clocks, I'm off to Dallas, so if you get a chance, check on Larry, Cody and Frank. Not to many rooms available while I'm gone, but give the O'Malley a call and see what can be worked out.

Larry had another Birthday! and we're happy for another celebration!

I guess it's that time of year, for the next couple of weekend, people are coming to celebrate their birthdays at the O'Malley House! Happy! Happy!

I'll be heading to Dallas on March 9, thus, Frank will be taking over! If you haven't been here with Frank, you don't want to miss out. He's almost as nice as I am! Great cook, host and a perfect southern gentleman!

Larry should be around, if not swinging on the porch swing! Cody too!

Spring is booking up, so if you're planning on a stay, check out our availability. There are a few rooms left for French Quarter Fest. It's one of my favorite festivals!

Another busy week with the NBA All-Stars!
Did make it to the Fan Jam and I think everyone else did too!

How about those Hornets?! Sister and Brother-in-law made it overnight to
see the Mavericks get beat! Poor Kidd, maybe next time?!

Close to a full house, again, this weekend.

Larry’s headed to the cabin, Cody and I wish we were going, maybe next time.So if you need a Brad & Cody fix, come visit in the next couple of weeks!

This past weekend was a big event for one of our favorite neighbor, Ms T! As many of you know, who have stayed here, I help over-see Ms T, and she turned 3 on Monday. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins all flew in for the event! The O’Malley House will always be her first home, but the party was at her house, a few doors down, for her first birthday at her true home.

Mardi Gras was slow at the B&B, but Endymion was back the parade was wonderful. Make plans to stay a long weekend this next year. A lot of people missed out, but book early!

We are thankful for Ms T’s bday, she caused the B&B to fill-up!
This weekend is the NBA All-Star game!
Did make it to the preview of the Fan Jam, interesting to say the least. We have another full house and it’s looks like it going to be a good month.
